No. 995 77R15133 MDM-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On August 21, 2001, Mike and Starr Freeman of Round 1-2 Rock will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, and this joyous 1-3 occasion is indeed deserving of special recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Michael Edward Freeman and Helen Starr Martin well 1-5 remember the day of their first meeting on August 1, 1981, at The 1-6 Second Edition, a country and western nightspot in El Paso; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Their courtship blossomed into love during a trip to 1-8 Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico, when the single roadway out was 1-9 flooded and the couple were stranded with only bologna sandwiches, 1-10 cokes, tequila, and each other's company; one week later, 1-11 Mr. Freeman proposed marriage and Ms. Martin accepted; and 1-12 WHEREAS, On August 21, 1981, after a pre-wedding breakfast at 1-13 Elmer's Coffee House, Mr. Freeman and the former Starr Martin were 1-14 married in El Paso by the bride's cousin, Justice of the Peace 1-15 Bobby Kessel, in the presence of the bride's mother, Helen Francis 1-16 Umlang; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Since beginning their life together, the Freemans 1-18 have enjoyed a happy and fulfilling relationship that serves as an 1-19 inspiration to all who know them, and they take great pride in the 1-20 many accomplishments of their beloved children, Kori Michelle and 1-21 Lacey Jaye; and 1-22 WHEREAS, This devoted couple have shared the trials and 1-23 triumphs of two decades together; their commitment to each other is 1-24 a source of inspiration to their family and many friends, and it is 2-1 indeed a privilege to join their loved ones in honoring them at 2-2 this time; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Mike and Starr Freeman on their 2-5 20th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes as 2-6 they continue their journey together; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for the Freemans as an expression of high regard by the 2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
