R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The family and friends of Phyllis Chamlee Cobb of
 1-2     Austin were deeply saddened by the untimely passing of this
 1-3     esteemed Texan on November 23, 2000, at the age of 48; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A Plan II graduate with a master's degree in
 1-5     education from The University of Texas at Austin, Mrs. Cobb was for
 1-6     25 years an invaluable State of Texas employee whose outstanding
 1-7     service greatly benefited those Texans who received Medicaid, food
 1-8     stamps, or TANF in the last 15 years; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Dedicating two decades to the Texas Department of
1-10     Human Services (DHS), Mrs. Cobb began her exceptional career as a
1-11     computer operator; through one of DHS's early programmer
1-12     apprenticeships, she became a computer programmer and later worked
1-13     as a database administrator and leader of the database group; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Mrs. Cobb is remembered for her insistence on high
1-15     standards and willingness to work long hours and weekends to ensure
1-16     that benefits to her clients were not disrupted; selfless and
1-17     deeply committed, she supported her staff and shared with them her
1-18     wealth of knowledge while always keeping benefit recipients as her
1-19     highest priority; and
1-20           WHEREAS, This esteemed lady was a devoted wife and a beloved
1-21     friend to many, and by deeply touching the lives of countless
1-22     individuals, she truly made the world a better place; now,
1-23     therefore, be it
1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-1     Legislature hereby honor the memory of Phyllis Cobb and extend
 2-2     sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband,
 2-3     Frank Cobb; to her mother, Blanche Henager; to her brother, James
 2-4     Chamlee; to her stepsisters, Ann Joseph and Jean Jenkins; to her
 2-5     stepbrother, Ray Henager; and to her nieces, nephews, and other
 2-6     relatives and many friends; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 2-9     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Phyllis
2-10     Chamlee Cobb.
