R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Carolyn Broussard of Beaumont is bringing to a close
 1-2     a long and distinguished career in education, having positively
 1-3     affected the lives of countless young people for more than three
 1-4     decades; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Ms. Broussard began her 34-year tenure as an
 1-6     educator teaching first grade at Hollywood Elementary School; she
 1-7     taught in the Headstart Program and spent three years with the Port
 1-8     Arthur Independent School District, and since 1989 she has worked
 1-9     as curriculum coordinator at Blanchette Elementary School in
1-10     Beaumont; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Dedicated to academic excellence, Ms. Broussard has
1-12     given her time and expertise to numerous professional
1-13     organizations; most notably she was selected by the governor of
1-14     Texas to serve on the continuing advisory committee for the Texas
1-15     Education Agency; and
1-16           WHEREAS, A believer in setting high standards and going above
1-17     and beyond to help her students reach them, Ms. Broussard has
1-18     exemplified the highest ideals of the teaching profession, and it
1-19     is a privilege to honor her as she concludes an outstanding career;
1-20     now, therefore, be it
1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-22     Legislature hereby honor Carolyn Broussard on the occasion of her
1-23     retirement and commend her for her notable contributions to the
1-24     field of education in Texas; and, be it further
 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-2     prepared for Ms. Broussard as an expression of high regard by the
 2-3     Texas House of Representatives.
