R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On April 20, 2001, the Democratic Party of El Paso 1-2 County inducted 19 outstanding party and community leaders into its 1-3 2001 Hall of Fame; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Instituted in 1985, the Hall of Fame recognizes 1-5 those individuals who have, over a significant period of time, been 1-6 the lifeblood of the party--the people who perform every role, from 1-7 handling the myriad tasks that make up a campaign to holding party 1-8 office, serving as delegates to party conventions, and even serving 1-9 as members of the electoral college; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Those honored with induction into the Hall of Fame 1-11 must also have given commensurate time and energy directly to the 1-12 community; the individuals selected for this accolade have all 1-13 compiled extensive records of volunteer service, whether in 1-14 donating their professional skills or in lending their invaluable 1-15 support as committed citizens to schools, youth sports, civic 1-16 organizations, city commissions, charities, and arts and cultural 1-17 groups; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The men and women selected for the 2001 El Paso 1-19 County Democratic Hall of Fame are Daniel Anchondo, Delia Briones, 1-20 Ceci Carpio, Delia Camacho, Jan Engles, Soledad "Chole" Galvan, 1-21 Mary Bowles-Grijalva, Luis Mata, Ramy Martinez, Marie Mier, Jose 1-22 "Joe" R. Parra, Esther V. Perez, Irma S. Sanchez, the Honorable 1-23 Charles R. Schulte, Susan Kathryn Sheldon, Lupe Weaver, Dorline 1-24 Wonciar, George Ybarra, and, posthumously, Louis Reinhardt; and 2-1 WHEREAS, In honoring these admirable individuals, the El Paso 2-2 County Democratic Party salutes them for their tireless efforts in 2-3 giving life to small "d" democracy and in strengthening the social 2-4 fabric of their local communities; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby honor the inductees of the 2001 El Paso County 2-7 Democratic Hall of Fame and commend them all for their exemplary 2-8 civic engagement; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-10 for the men and women of the 2001 Hall of Fame as an expression of 2-11 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
