R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Jeff Corbet has contributed greatly to the
 1-2     betterment of the Bedford community as a city councilman,
 1-3     representing the constituents of Place 3; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Dr. Corbet has served as the city council's liaison
 1-5     to the Community Affairs Commission, Drainage Committee, Library
 1-6     Board, and the North Texas Commission and as a director of the
 1-7     Street Improvement Economic Development Corporation; in addition,
 1-8     he attended numerous related seminars by the National League of
 1-9     Cities Leadership Institute in an effort to further his
1-10     understanding of city management; and
1-11           WHEREAS, A civic leader before his election as a councilman,
1-12     Dr. Corbet was a member of the Charter Review Commission in 1992,
1-13     and in 1995, he was a member of the Citizen's Task Force that
1-14     reviewed a sales tax proposal for street improvements and a
1-15     spokesperson for the Street Actions Committee; a former participant
1-16     on the Building and Standards Commission and the Ethics Commission,
1-17     he has been a member of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Chamber of
1-18     Commerce since 1990, and currently holds a seat  on its board of
1-19     directors; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Earning his doctorate of dental science degree from
1-21     The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Dr.
1-22     Corbet moved with his family to Bedford in 1985; as a testament to
1-23     his civic-minded spirit, he has donated his services to the John
1-24     Peter Smith Northeast Clinic and given talks emphasizing dental
 2-1     health at several of the local elementary schools; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, Dr. Corbet can take justifiable pride in his
 2-3     contributions to his fellow citizens and to the State of Texas, and
 2-4     it is appropriate to recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be
 2-5     it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-7     Legislature hereby commend Jeff Corbet for his contributions to the
 2-8     city of Bedford and extend to him sincere best wishes for success
 2-9     in all of his future endeavors; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-11     prepared for Dr. Corbet as an expression of high regard by the
2-12     Texas House of Representatives.
