R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, It is a distinct privilege to honor such a promising
1-2 young Texas leader as Melissa C. Ruud, the newly elected Associated
1-3 Student Government president at Southwest Texas State University;
1-4 and
1-5 WHEREAS, Ms. Ruud was a write-in candidate for president who
1-6 claimed victory in a runoff election; using the time between the
1-7 election and inauguration to learn as much as she can about the
1-8 president's role, she promises to be an exemplary leader and a
1-9 strong voice for the students' interest; and
1-10 WHEREAS, A marketing and management major, Ms. Ruud has
1-11 gained valuable leadership skills and work experience as a sales
1-12 associate and marketing assistant, in addition to being an active
1-13 member of Phi Eta Sigma and of Chi Omega, which she served as
1-14 secretary and sisterhood director; moreover, she has given of her
1-15 time and energy to the local women's shelter and San Marcos Animal
1-16 Shelter; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Ms. Ruud ran an impressive campaign, and her talent
1-18 and determination will undoubtedly greatly benefit the student body
1-19 of Southwest Texas State University; now, therefore, be it
1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-21 Legislature hereby congratulate Melissa Ruud on being elected
1-22 Associated Student Government president and extend to her sincere
1-23 best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-1 prepared for Ms. Ruud as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-2 House of Representatives.
