R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The people of Lee County, a center of German and
1-2 Wendish settlement in the mid-19th century, are celebrating the
1-3 area's European heritage with the ninth annual State Noodle Cookoff
1-4 on May 19, 2001, held in conjunction with the Lee County Fair; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Noodles are an important staple in European cooking,
1-6 and a wide array of noodle dishes will be available for sampling
1-7 when expert chefs from around the Lone Star State gather to exhibit
1-8 their culinary prowess; and
1-9 WHEREAS, In addition to providing authentic German and
1-10 Wendish cuisine, the popular festival will also feature traditional
1-11 music, dance, and folklore, offering a richly varied experience to
1-12 all who attend; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Few states can match Texas in the diversity of
1-14 cultures that have contributed to its bold mosaic, and the
1-15 celebration and preservation of these cultures serves to bring all
1-16 Texans together in a spirit of fun and fellowship; now, therefore,
1-17 be it
1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-19 Legislature hereby commemorate the ninth annual State Noodle
1-20 Cookoff and extend sincere best wishes to all those associated with
1-21 this joyful occasion.
