R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, On June 7-9, 2001, the 72nd Southern Conference is
1-2 taking place in Waco, and this is an opportune moment to recognize
1-3 the Central Texas chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, which are
1-4 hosting this significant gathering; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Founded in Washington, D.C., at Howard University on
1-6 January 16, 1920, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority fosters the principles of
1-7 womanhood, service, sisterly love, and scholarship as it strives to
1-8 strengthen the moral conscience of our citizenry through training,
1-9 leadership, and fellowship; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority make many
1-11 significant contributions to their communities through involvement
1-12 in various service projects, through participation in volunteer
1-13 organizations, and by giving to organized charities, as well as
1-14 through promoting voter education and registration; they also
1-15 provide tutorial services and other programs that aim to promote
1-16 literacy; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of community service
1-18 and civic leadership, these members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority are
1-19 investing their time and energy in the future of Central Texas and
1-20 the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-22 Legislature hereby recognize the officers and members of the
1-23 Central Texas chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority on the occasion of
1-24 the 72nd Southern Conference and extend to them sincere best wishes
2-1 for continued success and happiness.
