R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Dr. Glenn Arthur Lee of Taylor, Texas, in recognition of his 80th 1-3 birthday; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The son of Arthur and Gina D. Lee, he was born on 1-5 August 10, 1921, at his maternal grandfather's home, the Ole 1-6 Johnson farm, in Yankton County, South Dakota; in December 1924 he 1-7 moved with his family to Irene, South Dakota, where he lived until 1-8 1932, at which time the family returned to the original Lee 1-9 homestead farm; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Dr. Lee learned the lifelong virtues of hard work, 1-11 love of family and kin, and a strong faith in the Lord from the 1-12 great example of his Norwegian immigrant family; and 1-13 WHEREAS, This patriotic American served his country with 1-14 honor, bravery, and distinction as a member of the U.S. Army Air 1-15 Corps, 5th Air Force, 317th Troop Carrier Group, 40th Squadron 1-16 during World War II and as a flight commander and pilot in command 1-17 of a C-47 troop transport in the Pacific Theater; he participated 1-18 in the battles of Leyte, Luzon, and Corregidor, earning various air 1-19 medals and commendations, until his honorable discharge in 1946, 1-20 after which he continued to serve his country in the Air Force 1-21 Reserve until 1968; and 1-22 WHEREAS, He married Mary Frances Daniels on January 26, 1946, 1-23 in Austin, Texas, and they enjoyed a fulfilling relationship for 34 1-24 years until Mrs. Lee's passing in 1980; blessed with two children, 2-1 Randy M. Lee and Ann Elizabeth Lee, Dr. Lee joyfully welcomed in 2-2 1985 the birth of his grandson, Dallas A. Lee, who is now an Eagle 2-3 Scout; and 2-4 WHEREAS, After graduating from Augustana College in Sioux 2-5 Falls and attending The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Lee 2-6 graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio in 1950 2-7 and opened a practice in McAllen; he relocated to Austin in 1953 to 2-8 help his father-in-law operate a home construction company, and 2-9 moved his family to Taylor in 1963 to open his chiropractic clinic, 2-10 where he still serves patients today; and 2-11 WHEREAS, Dr. Lee has served as the Williamson County 2-12 Veteran's Service Officer since 1971, helping veterans and their 2-13 dependents receive their appropriate service benefits; he is a 2-14 former member of the Taylor Optimist Club, and is currently a 2-15 member of VFW Post No. 4476, American Legion Post No. 39, Taylor 2-16 Masonic Lodge No. 484, and the sanctuary choir of Tenth Street 2-17 United Methodist Church; and 2-18 WHEREAS, "Doc" is admired, respected, and valued as an 2-19 outstanding citizen of Taylor, a devoted father and grandfather, 2-20 and a good friend to Noble Sievers and Wally Johnson, and others 2-21 too numerous to mention; for many years this beloved man has 2-22 dedicated himself to his family, his community, and his country, 2-23 and his birthday is a fitting time to share with him the high 2-24 regard in which he is held; now, therefore, be it 2-25 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-26 Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Glenn Arthur Lee on the 2-27 momentous occasion of his 80th birthday and extend to him sincere 3-1 best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further 3-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 3-3 prepared for Dr. Lee as an expression of high regard by the Texas 3-4 House of Representatives.
