R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, L.L.P. law firm
 1-2     is celebrating its 50th anniversary, a milestone that marks a
 1-3     half-century of providing exemplary legal services in the Lone Star
 1-4     State; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The firm was established in Dallas by Will C.
 1-6     Thompson and R. Vernon Coe, who formed a partnership to address
 1-7     insurance regulatory and legislative advocacy matters; it now has
 1-8     80 attorneys and 120 employees, with offices in Dallas and Austin,
 1-9     and offers a full range of commercial legal services; and
1-10           WHEREAS, The firm now has 26 equity partners, including
1-11     Franklin H. Perry, Richard S. Geiger, Robert O. Lamb, David M.
1-12     Taylor, Randy A. Nelson, Jack M. Cleaveland, Roger D. Higgins,
1-13     Rodney D. Bucker, John L. Ross, Alison H. Moore, Rick Mosher,
1-14     Newton Jones, Jennifer Aufricht, Beth Bradley, Michael W. Jones,
1-15     Rider Scott, William Radford, Jim Sowder, David Eriksen, Sherry
1-16     Travers, Harrison Yoss, Tom Culpepper, Jeff Otto, Rick Harmon,
1-17     Gerrit Pronske, and Kevin Thomason; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Among the partners who have contributed
1-19     significantly to Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, two have
1-20     especially close ties with the Texas Legislature; Dick Geiger
1-21     graduated from Southern Methodist University Law School and was
1-22     elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1972, serving two
1-23     terms representing District 33-G in Dallas County and as vice
1-24     chairman of the Committee on State Affairs; he joined the law firm
 2-1     in 1975, was elected partner three years later, and currently is
 2-2     chairman of the firm's management committee; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, Rider Scott graduated from The University of Texas
 2-4     School of Law, worked as an assistant district attorney in Dallas
 2-5     from 1974 to 1987 under Henry Wade, and left as first assistant; he
 2-6     served as general counsel and chief of staff for Governor William
 2-7     P. Clements, Jr., and joined the firm in 1996; and
 2-8           WHEREAS, For half a century this outstanding Texas law firm
 2-9     has demonstrated an uncompromising commitment to serving the needs
2-10     of its clients, and it is truly a pleasure to recognize it at this
2-11     time; now, therefore, be it
2-12           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-13     Legislature hereby honor Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, L.L.P. on
2-14     the occasion of its 50th anniversary and extend to all its
2-15     partners, attorneys, and staff sincere best wishes for continued
2-16     success.
