                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Lois Martin Hansen Hayes of Bay City
 1-2     on May 3, 2001, has deeply saddened the family and many friends of
 1-3     this beloved woman; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born on March 7, 1931, in Bishop, she attended Texas
 1-5     A&I University in Kingsville, where she was a cheerleader from 1948
 1-6     to 1951; she met her first husband, the late Jack J. Hansen of
 1-7     Danevang, while both were students at Texas A&I University, and
 1-8     they were married on September 1, 1951; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Mrs. Hayes retired from the Bay City Independent
1-10     School District in 1991, after a career that included six years as
1-11     a substitute teacher and 20 years as secretary of Tenie Holmes
1-12     Elementary School; and
1-13           WHEREAS, After becoming a Christian in 1943, this woman of
1-14     faith served the Baptist Church as a participant in Sunday school,
1-15     vacation Bible school, training union, G.A.s, choirs, and committee
1-16     work and by holding various offices; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Involved with several bridge clubs since her
1-18     retirement, she was also a member of the Study Club and the Flower
1-19     Gardeners Club; her leadership included terms as president of the
1-20     Bay City Educational Secretaries Association and the Bay City Book
1-21     Review Club; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the friendship of
1-23     Mrs. Hayes will long miss her presence, and she will surely be
1-24     remembered with great affection and admiration for many years to
 2-1     come; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lois Martin Hansen
 2-4     Hayes and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to
 2-5     her husband, Daniel E. Hayes; to her daughter, Carol Hansen, and
 2-6     her husband, Chris Barbee; to her son Danny Hansen and his wife,
 2-7     Lauryn; to her son Michael Hansen; to her grandchildren, Jonathan
 2-8     and Julie Barbee and Lawton, Travis, and Lynlea Hansen; to her
 2-9     brothers and sisters-in-law, W. L. and Suzanne Martin and Gene and
2-10     Carolyn Martin; to her stepchildren, Grace Romero and Keith and
2-11     Royce Hayes; and to the other relatives and many friends of this
2-12     cherished woman; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
2-15     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lois
2-16     Martin Hansen Hayes.
