No. 1041 77R15688 JKB-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On May 16, 2001, Lee Fitzgerald begins his tenure as 1-2 president of the Dallas County Dental Society; and 1-3 WHEREAS, A practicing dentist for more than 15 years, Dr. 1-4 Fitzgerald earned a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas 1-5 at Austin before graduating from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1-6 1985; after nearly six years as an associate in the office of James 1-7 D. Watters, D.D.S., Inc., he opened a private practice in 1-8 Richardson that continues to flourish today; and 1-9 WHEREAS, While building his practice, he has given generously 1-10 of his time and experience to the Dallas County Dental Society, 1-11 serving variously as vice president and president-elect of the 1-12 organization and sharing his leadership as chairman of the Peer 1-13 Review Committee and the Study Club, as captain of the Dallas 1-14 Midwinter Class, and as a vital member of the Young Dentist 1-15 Committee and the Nominating Committee over the course of his 1-16 association; and 1-17 WHEREAS, In 1996 Dr. Fitzgerald was honored by the 1-18 organization as its New Dentist of the Year, and throughout the 1-19 ensuing years he has brought to each new task the vision and 1-20 commitment that have characterized his membership; he was selected 1-21 as chair of the task force formed to establish the Dallas County 1-22 Dental Society Foundation, which he later served as vice president; 1-23 and 1-24 WHEREAS, Dr. Fitzgerald is also a member of the American 2-1 Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Academy of 2-2 General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry; 2-3 highly respected by his peers, he has served on the Southwest 2-4 Dental Conference Scientific Committee for the past six years and 2-5 has distinguished himself as general chairman of the conference 2-6 since 1999; and 2-7 WHEREAS, In addition, this compassionate man has used his 2-8 dental skills to help those less fortunate as a volunteer both in 2-9 Texas and abroad through his work as a dental missionary in 2-10 Northern Mexico, a dental services volunteer at Dover Elementary 2-11 School in Richardson, and a participant in the Kiwanis Wesley 2-12 Dental Clinic for Children's Services; and 2-13 WHEREAS, Lee Fitzgerald is certain to bring to his new office 2-14 the vision, integrity, and commitment for which he is known, and it 2-15 is a privilege to join in honoring him at this time; now, 2-16 therefore, be it 2-17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-18 Legislature hereby congratulate Lee Fitzgerald on his selection as 2-19 president of the Dallas County Dental Society and extend to him 2-20 sincere best wishes for great success and fulfillment in his new 2-21 post; and, be it further 2-22 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-23 prepared for Dr. Fitzgerald as an expression of high regard by the 2-24 Texas House of Representatives.
