R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The 2001 Junior ROTC battalion at Parkland High
 1-2     School in the Ysleta Independent School District has been awarded
 1-3     the Superintendent's Trophy, an accomplishment that is most
 1-4     deserving of special recognition; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, This marks the fourth consecutive year that Parkland
 1-6     has earned the prestigious trophy, which is presented to battalion
 1-7     units that have performed well in a variety of team events; the
 1-8     school's Junior ROTC program also won 36 other awards at area and
 1-9     regional competitions this year; and
1-10           WHEREAS, These admirable young cadets demonstrated
1-11     outstanding dedication and determination in their quest for the
1-12     trophy; moreover, they have developed important leadership and life
1-13     skills that will undoubtedly benefit them as they embrace the
1-14     myriad challenges and opportunities of the future; and
1-15           WHEREAS, In completing such a banner year, the cadets proved
1-16     themselves to be the best Junior ROTC battalion in the Ysleta
1-17     school district and among the top units in the greater El Paso
1-18     metropolitan area; and
1-19           WHEREAS, With their hard work and competitive spirit, the
1-20     cadets have upheld the school's tradition of excellence in Junior
1-21     ROTC competitions, and it is indeed fitting to pay tribute to them
1-22     at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-24     Legislature hereby congratulate the 2001 Junior ROTC battalion from
 2-1     Parkland High School on winning the Superintendent's Trophy and
 2-2     commend them for their numerous achievements; and, be it further
 2-3           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-4     prepared for the 2001 Junior ROTC battalion from Parkland High
 2-5     School as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
 2-6     Representatives.
