R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Through his love for classical music, George Archer 1-2 Winters has truly enriched the lives of countless people in San 1-3 Antonio and across the Lone Star State; and 1-4 WHEREAS, This distinguished musician is the founder and 1-5 conductor of the Winters Chamber Orchestra, an exemplary 36-member 1-6 ensemble that during 2000-2001 is celebrating its 25th season; for 1-7 a quarter-century, Mr. Winters and his orchestra have generously 1-8 performed free concerts for San Antonio audiences, playing a broad 1-9 repertoire of pieces ranging from Bach to present-day composers; 1-10 and 1-11 WHEREAS, His passion for classical music, as well as his 1-12 dedication to ensuring that his orchestra's live performances are a 1-13 unique and satisfying experience for performers and listeners 1-14 alike, truly imbue his work with a spiritual quality; moreover, his 1-15 promotion of classical music has had a profound impact on the lives 1-16 of Texans young and old, and the orchestra's free concerts afford 1-17 many people who otherwise might not be able to attend such an event 1-18 the opportunity to experience the pleasure of superbly played 1-19 classical music; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Mr. Winters's willingness to provide residents of 1-21 San Antonio and Texas with exceptional performances of classical 1-22 music at no charge for 25 years is indeed impressive, and it is a 1-23 privilege to recognize this talented gentleman and his stellar 1-24 orchestra at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby commend George Archer Winters for his devotion 2-3 to performing and sharing classical music with his fellow Texans 2-4 and congratulate him on the 25th anniversary of the Winters Chamber 2-5 Orchestra; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for Mr. Winters as an expression of high regard by the 2-8 Texas House of Representatives.
