                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On November 15, 2000, Plano Police Chief Bruce D.
 1-2     Glasscock was selected as president of the International
 1-3     Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), and his service in that
 1-4     position is most deserving of special legislative recognition; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The IACP is the world's oldest and largest nonprofit
 1-6     organization of police executives, and includes more than 17,000
 1-7     members from 112 countries; Chief Glasscock's vast experience in
 1-8     law enforcement and natural leadership abilities are a true asset
 1-9     to this fine organization, and when his term concludes in October
1-10     2001, he will undoubtedly be remembered for his dedicated service
1-11     and vision; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The chief of police in Plano since 1990, this
1-13     outstanding peace officer has continually demonstrated the
1-14     integrity and foresight essential for success in the field of law
1-15     enforcement; since 1998, he has also served as an executive
1-16     director with the city, and he oversees public safety
1-17     communications, telecommunications, library services, information
1-18     services, and community outreach functions in addition to police
1-19     services; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Chief Glasscock earned his bachelor's degree in
1-21     criminal justice administration from Metropolitan State College in
1-22     Denver, Colorado, and his master's degree in public administration
1-23     from the University of Colorado at Denver; he is a graduate of the
1-24     Federal Bureau of Investigation's Law Enforcement Executive
 2-1     Development Program and the Police Executive Research Forum's
 2-2     Senior Management Institute; during a career that has spanned more
 2-3     than three decades, he has been a police officer in St. Petersburg,
 2-4     Florida, and Lakewood, Colorado, and was the chief of the Fort
 2-5     Collins Police Department in Colorado before assuming his position
 2-6     on the Plano force; and
 2-7           WHEREAS, Chief Glasscock is truly an admirable public servant
 2-8     who is making notable contributions to his community and his
 2-9     profession, and it is a privilege to honor him and his service to
2-10     the IACP at this time; now, therefore, be it
2-11           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-12     Legislature hereby commend Plano Police Chief Bruce Glasscock on
2-13     his selection as president of the International Association of
2-14     Chiefs of Police and extend to him sincere best wishes for
2-15     continued success in all of his future endeavors; and, be it
2-16     further
2-17           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-18     prepared for Chief Glasscock as an expression of high regard by the
2-19     Texas House of Representatives.
