R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, El Paso's Eastwood High School Student Council has 1-2 been chosen the secretary school for the Texas Association of 1-3 Student Councils; and 1-4 WHEREAS, During a state conference held in Austin, the 1-5 Eastwood team campaigned with a pledge to work for a 10 percent 1-6 statewide reduction in DWI fatalities, reflecting the broader focus 1-7 of today's student councils on community projects as well as school 1-8 issues; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The 1,400-plus members of the Texas association 1-10 represent middle and high school student councils throughout the 1-11 Lone Star State; Valerie Hernandez represents Eastwood's student 1-12 council with the state group; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Drew Morales is incoming president of the Eastwood 1-14 High School Student Council, which was also recently elected 1-15 president school in District 9, the Trans Pecos Association of 1-16 Student Councils; Katie Empson represents Eastwood in that 1-17 organization; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Members of the Eastwood High School Student Council 1-19 have shown great commitment, determination, and maturity in 1-20 representing their fellow students, and it is most appropriate that 1-21 these exceptional young people be commended for their efforts; now, 1-22 therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby congratulate the Eastwood High School Student 2-1 Council on being selected the secretary school for the Texas 2-2 Association of Student Councils and extend to council members and 2-3 sponsors sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it 2-4 further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for display at the school as an expression of high regard 2-7 by the Texas House of Representatives.
