                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Gene Garison has contributed greatly to the
 1-2     betterment of the Pasadena community as a city councilman,
 1-3     representing the constituents of District D; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A member of the council since 1992, Mr. Garison has
 1-5     been instrumental in such valued projects as the revitalization of
 1-6     the North End, the Capitain Theatre, and Corrigan Center, the
 1-7     development of several miles of city hike and bike trails, and the
 1-8     improvement of area streets, sewer lines, and water lines; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, This dedicated civic leader is also an active
1-10     volunteer, giving generously of his time and many talents to a host
1-11     of worthy programs, including the American Legion, the San Jacinto
1-12     Day Foundation, the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo, and the
1-13     South Pasadena Rotary Club; in addition, he has donated his skills
1-14     as a chef during fundraisers for several area churches, the
1-15     Pasadena Old Town Festival, the Deepwater Parent-Teachers
1-16     Association, and Pasadena Clean Up Day; and
1-17           WHEREAS, A former member of the Pasadena Police Department
1-18     and Volunteer Fire Department, Mr. Garison is a veteran of the
1-19     United States Air Force and National Guard, and currently is the
1-20     president and CEO of Emergency Safety Products; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Completing his tenure as a city councilman on June
1-22     30, 2001, this committed public servant can take justifiable pride
1-23     in his contributions to his fellow citizens and to the State of
1-24     Texas, and it is appropriate to recognize him at this time; now,
 2-1     therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby commend Gene Garison for his contributions to
 2-4     the city of Pasadena and extend to him sincere best wishes for
 2-5     success in all of his future endeavors; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for Mr. Garison as an expression of high regard by the
 2-8     Texas House of Representatives.
