                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The students at Duncanville High School have
 1-2     received a fifth place national award presented by the judges of
 1-3     the 18th annual Children's Set a Good Example competition, and this
 1-4     significant achievement is indeed worthy of special legislative
 1-5     recognition; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Concerned Businessmen's Association
 1-7     of America, the competition encourages students to work together to
 1-8     influence their peers in a positive manner while steering them away
 1-9     from drugs, crime, violence, and other social perils; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Since its establishment, this nationwide contest has
1-11     grown to include more than 10,000 schools and some 12 million
1-12     students throughout the United States; the acclaimed competition is
1-13     considered to be a highly effective character-building program and
1-14     promotes such time-honored values as honesty, respect, tolerance,
1-15     competence, and understanding; and
1-16           WHEREAS, The students at Duncanville High School have
1-17     demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the ideals represented by
1-18     this national competition; with assistance from parents, teachers,
1-19     and school administrators, these talented young Texans have made a
1-20     lasting contribution to the success of their school and community;
1-21     and
1-22           WHEREAS, Duncanville students who helped the school win this
1-23     accolade include Dana Amorella, Amy Amundson, Matthew Anderson,
1-24     Cecilia Anderson, Andrea Anthony, Chase Austin, Amanda Brannen,
 2-1     Emily Brown, Charles Brown, Sophia Cabido, Courtney Canada, Angela

2-19           WHEREAS, Their valuable efforts have helped lay the
2-20     foundation for future students to enjoy an enriching learning
2-21     environment at Duncanville High School, and it is most appropriate
2-22     to pay tribute to them at this time; now, therefore, be it
2-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-24     Legislature hereby congratulate the students at Duncanville High
2-25     School for winning a fifth place national award in the 18th annual
2-26     Children's Set a Good Example competition and commend them for
2-27     their many good works and deeds; and, be it further
 3-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 3-2     prepared for the students at Duncanville High School as an
 3-3     expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
