R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The family and friends of MacGregor Wood Day of
 1-2     Dallas were deeply saddened by the passing of this esteemed man on
 1-3     March 13, 2001; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A dedicated employee of the Dallas County Hospital
 1-5     District-Parkland Health & Hospital System for 27 years, Mr. Day
 1-6     worked his way up through the ranks to become executive vice
 1-7     president and chief operating officer, garnering an impressive
 1-8     record of achievement along the way; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, He was a talented financial manager whose expert
1-10     direction enabled Parkland Health & Hospital System to remain
1-11     fiscally sound during tough financial times, and he also helped to
1-12     establish the Parkland Community Health Plan, which is widely
1-13     regarded as the most successful plan of its type in the state; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Recognized for his leadership and problem-solving
1-15     abilities, this distinguished Texan played a leading role in his
1-16     employer's selection as a 100 Top Hospital by HCIA-Sachs, and his
1-17     fiscal management system has served as a model for hospitals
1-18     throughout the country; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Mr. Day gave generously of his time and expertise to
1-20     teach those  who would follow in his chosen profession, serving as
1-21     the preceptor for the entire Administrative Residency Program, in
1-22     which capacity he mentored more than three dozen young leaders; and
1-23           WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Day was a devoted husband
1-24     and loving father and grandfather; a man who excelled in all
 2-1     aspects of his life, he will long be remembered with affection and
 2-2     admiration by those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-4     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of MacGregor Wood Day
 2-5     and extend sincere sympathy to his family and many friends; and, be
 2-6     it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
 2-9     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-10     MacGregor Wood Day.
