R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Rob Harrell has found the time in his busy schedule
 1-2     since 1997 to organize, lead, and assist with the Capitol
 1-3     Gathering, an event that is held one day each week when Texas state
 1-4     legislators, staff, and the public gather to experience fellowship
 1-5     and to hear a biblically based message over breakfast in the midst
 1-6     of the hectic biennial legislative session; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, The success of the Capitol Gathering can be
 1-8     attributed in large part to Rob's involvement with the Gathering of
 1-9     Men and Promise Keepers, with which he has been active since 1996;
1-10     and
1-11           WHEREAS, Rob can often be found at the early hour of 7 a.m.
1-12     in the Capitol cafeteria personally imparting wisdom and practical
1-13     advice to those willing to hear, and the crowd is always blessed
1-14     from his experience as a pastor and featured speaker at places such
1-15     as the Dallas Theological Seminary and events such as the
1-16     Evangelical Free Church of America National Convention; and
1-17           WHEREAS, He and his family have been involved with the
1-18     Gideons for many years; each year they are asked to participate in
1-19     the Gideons national convention, and for the past three years they
1-20     have also been involved with mission trips to Guatemala; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Since 1990, Rob has served as senior pastor at the
1-22     First Evangelical Free Church of Austin, Texas, and before his
1-23     ministry in Austin, he served for seven years at Metropolitan
1-24     Baptist in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and for four years at Westlake
 2-1     Bible Church in Austin; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, Rob Harrell can only be described by his peers, his
 2-3     many, many friends, and those who know him as a very caring and
 2-4     compassionate individual whom all truly enjoy; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, He received a bachelor of science degree in
 2-6     psychology and sociology from the University of Utah, a master of
 2-7     divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and
 2-8     a doctor of ministry degree from Dallas Theological Seminary; and
 2-9           WHEREAS, He has served on the South Central District
2-10     Superintendent Search Committee and the T-Net International
2-11     Disciplemaking Board and is presently serving on the STEP board in
2-12     Haiti; with his deep faith and wealth of experience, Rob is a
2-13     source of strength and inspiration to a great many people; now,
2-14     therefore, be it
2-15           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-16     Legislature hereby extend sincere thanks to Rob Harrell and to his
2-17     wife, Kathy, their son, Stephen, and their daughter, Kylie, for
2-18     their sacrifice of Rob's time; and, be it further
2-19           RESOLVED, That the Texas House of Representatives hereby
2-20     extend best wishes to Rob that he score par or better on each and
2-21     every hole of golf, which he loves to play, and that an official
2-22     copy of this resolution be prepared for Rob Harrell and the members
2-23     of his family as an expression of high regard by the house of
2-24     representatives.
