No. 1082 77R15868 MW-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, After 33 years of committed service, Maxine Odom 1-2 Smith of Orange is retiring as director of the Orange Community 1-3 Action Association; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Since beginning her employment with the organization 1-5 on April 16, 1968, Mrs. Smith has been a dedicated advocate for 1-6 elderly citizens throughout Orange County, and she has been 1-7 instrumental in ensuring that they receive satisfying, wholesome 1-8 meals that not only can lead to improved health, but can also 1-9 provide clients with an opportunity for socializing; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The numerous other services available to senior 1-11 citizens during her distinguished tenure include light 1-12 housekeeping, transportation, shopping, and other forms of 1-13 assistance needed to enable clients to remain independent and 1-14 living in their own homes; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mrs. Smith has earned a special place in the hearts 1-16 of the many people she has helped, and she is truly deserving of 1-17 recognition for her more than three decades of outstanding service 1-18 in behalf of her fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-20 Legislature hereby congratulate Maxine Odom Smith on the occasion 1-21 of her retirement from the Orange Community Action Association and 1-22 commend her for her countless good works; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-24 prepared for Mrs. Smith as an expression of high regard by the 2-1 Texas House of Representatives.
