                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS,  Walter Anthony Lukaszek of Donna is retiring on
 1-2     June 30, 2001, from the Texas Department of Protective and
 1-3     Regulatory Services (TDPRS) after an exceptional 27-year tenure;
 1-4     and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Mr. Lukaszek earned a master of science degree in
 1-6     social work at The University of Texas at Arlington and worked for
 1-7     the Texas Migrant Council and La Esperanza Home for Boys before
 1-8     beginning his employment with TDPRS on July 1, 1974; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, During his distinguished career, he has helped to
1-10     protect the most vulnerable citizens of Texas and to further the
1-11     agency's important work while serving as a child protective
1-12     services worker and supervisor, as a staff development specialist,
1-13     and as the director for staff development; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Mr. Lukaszek has also given generously of his time
1-15     outside of the office to contribute to the betterment of his
1-16     community; from 1979 to 1983, he coordinated a lay ministry
1-17     training program for the Diocese of Brownsville, and since 1975, he
1-18     has taught children and adults, provided lay ministry training, and
1-19     facilitated marriage preparation sessions at the Catholic Church of
1-20     St. Joseph; and
1-21           WHEREAS, His devotion to his work and to his fellow Texans
1-22     compelled this fine man to continue working beyond his retirement
1-23     eligibility date, and now that he has chosen to embark on this new
1-24     chapter in his life, he may take pride in the knowledge that he has
 2-1     made a positive difference in the lives of countless Texans; now,
 2-2     therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-4     Legislature hereby honor Walter Anthony Lukaszek on the occasion of
 2-5     his retirement and commend him for his many years of dedicated
 2-6     service to the State of Texas; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for Mr. Lukaszek as an expression of high regard by the
 2-9     Texas House of Representatives.
