R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Our nation depends greatly on volunteer action, and 1-2 today more than 109 million volunteers in the United States donate 1-3 their time and talents to the great benefit of their communities; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, All citizens have something to contribute as a 1-6 volunteer; those who do endeavor to help others through volunteer 1-7 action, no matter how big or small, are making a measurable 1-8 difference in the lives of their fellow citizens and are 1-9 undoubtedly contributing to the welfare of their communities; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Countless causes depend on the work done by 1-11 volunteers, and the hours these altruistic men, women, boys, and 1-12 girls donate better enable organizations to address pervasive 1-13 issues that exist in every community and every country; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Volunteers are vital to our future as a caring and 1-15 productive nation and world, and it is indeed a privilege to pay 1-16 tribute to the individuals who donate their time and energy to 1-17 helping others; now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-19 Legislature hereby recognize 2001 as the International Year of 1-20 Volunteers and urge all citizens to become involved in volunteer 1-21 activities.
