R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes pride in
1-2 recognizing the vast natural resources throughout the state, such
1-3 as the land itself, oil, natural gas, water, and flora and fauna,
1-4 but the spirit, heritage, and creativity of its people must also be
1-5 included among the state's greatest natural resources; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Texas country musicians, cowboy poets, storytellers,
1-7 and artists are unique in their respective crafts and have added
1-8 immeasurably to the quality of life of the State of Texas, and the
1-9 singularity of their works reflects the true spirit that helped
1-10 found our great state; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Appreciated by millions of people from a variety of
1-12 places and cultures, and often imitated, these extraordinary
1-13 artists perform and present their crafts at venues great and small
1-14 in Texas and around the world; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Proud to proclaim the virtues of the State of Texas
1-16 in their endeavors, Texas country musicians, cowboy poets,
1-17 storytellers, and artists reflect in their works the many facets of
1-18 life found in Texas and often motivate their audiences to learn
1-19 more about the state; and
1-20 WHEREAS, These gifted and dedicated individuals are also
1-21 outstanding diplomats for the Lone Star State and engender good
1-22 will in their many dedicated admirers; now, therefore, be it
1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-24 Legislature hereby recognize Texas country musicians, cowboy poets,
2-1 storytellers, and artists as natural resources of the State of
2-2 Texas and name them as "Texas Treasures."
