R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, May 18, 2001, marks the last day of employment for
1-2 Brittney L. Grigg in the office of Representative Edmund Kuempel,
1-3 and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor Ms. Grigg
1-4 for her service to the constituents of Guadalupe and Comal
1-5 counties, her sharp tongue to her fellow office workers, and her
1-6 "cutie-pie smile" that she saves for the boss; and
1-7 WHEREAS, The "quite bright" Seguin Matador ventured after
1-8 high school graduation to College Station, where she caught the
1-9 Aggie spirit, and her blood now runs maroon; though considered
1-10 "afflicted" by some who enter the office, she has maintained
1-11 composure and has taken it all in stride as "let nothing ruffle
1-12 you" is her motto; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Ms. Grigg has always lived by the saying, "a closed
1-14 mouth gathers no feet," and when her mouth does open, the comment
1-15 is quick and on target; though she has on occasion been timed by
1-16 Capitol regular Cliff Johnson to determine how long it will take
1-17 her to make an utterance after he enters the office, even he will
1-18 undoubtedly miss her; and
1-19 WHEREAS, The Kuempel staff had to sacrifice their kitchen for
1-20 Ms. Grigg to have a desk, but her presence has been well worth the
1-21 inconvenience, for she has proved to be so adept at filing that she
1-22 has even been known to file an amendment before Representative
1-23 Kuempel has presented the original measure on the floor; and
1-24 WHEREAS, Ms. Grigg has been unsuccessful in finding a man
2-1 worthy of her wit and charm, frustrating several matchmakers, but
2-2 surely, one day "her type" will come along; and
2-3 WHEREAS, She cheats on computer games, and has been duly
2-4 introduced to "reality TV" - "Days of Our Lives," having picked up
2-5 on the intricate plot lines in a short period of time; despite her
2-6 many foibles, she has been a bright spot in the office and will be
2-7 greatly missed by Representative Kuempel, Kerri, Paige, and Sally;
2-8 now, therefore, be it
2-9 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-10 Legislature hereby commend Brittney L. Grigg on her outstanding
2-11 tenure with the office of State Representative Edmund Kuempel and
2-12 extend to her sincere best wishes for great success with all of her
2-13 future endeavors; and, be it further
2-14 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-15 prepared for Ms. Grigg as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-16 House of Representatives.
