R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, A source of exceptional learning and great pride for 1-2 the San Antonio community, Fox Tech High School is truly deserving 1-3 of special legislative commendation; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Designated a blue ribbon school, Fox Tech, which was 1-5 established 120 years ago as a vocational and technical school, has 1-6 been named runner-up as the high school of the year in America by 1-7 Time magazine for its outstanding teaching and excellence in 1-8 academic achievement; and 1-9 WHEREAS, In recent years, Principal Joanne Cockrell has 1-10 transformed the school into a learning superpower, dividing the 1-11 campus into four academies of law and research, career studies, 1-12 universal global studies, and Internet design; additionally, Fox 1-13 Tech offers six advanced placement classes, and an after-school 1-14 TAAS Blitz program to increase scores, as well as Scholastic 1-15 Assessment Test and American College Test Blitz programs for 1-16 college-bound students; and 1-17 WHEREAS, All those associated with Fox Tech may be proud of 1-18 this school's accomplishments, and the exceptional quality of 1-19 education it gives to the area's young people will contribute to 1-20 their bright and successful futures; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby honor Fox Tech High School for its achievements 1-23 and extend to its students, faculty, and staff sincere best wishes 1-24 for good fortune; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for prominent display at the school as an expression of 2-3 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
