                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to pay
 1-2     tribute to Elton Bohmann of Seguin for his deep commitment to the
 1-3     education of Texas students; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Retired in 1987 from teaching accounting at Texas
 1-5     Lutheran University (TLU), Professor Bohmann mentored more than
 1-6     1,100 business and accounting graduates and inspired such
 1-7     admiration and affection that many of his former students came
 1-8     together to fund the Elton Bohmann Professorship in Accounting at
 1-9     TLU; and
1-10           WHEREAS, This exceptional educator has always demonstrated a
1-11     keen interest in his former students; he played a key role in
1-12     finding jobs for numerous individuals and, with his wife, Leta, who
1-13     later passed away, he attended various special events in their
1-14     lives such as weddings and baptisms; and
1-15           WHEREAS, In 1934, Professor Bohmann earned a bachelor's
1-16     degree from Sam Houston State University and received a master's
1-17     degree from Texas A&M University in Kingsville; he began his career
1-18     as a public school teacher and coach, served as principal and
1-19     tennis coach at Freer High School for 10 years, and in 1957, joined
1-20     the staff of TLU, where he taught for three decades; and
1-21           WHEREAS, A faithful congregant of Emanuel's Lutheran Church,
1-22     he has served on the development board of Texas Lutheran University
1-23     since 1990; his professional affiliations include the San Antonio
1-24     Chapter of the Texas CPAs, the Texas Society of CPAs, the American
 2-1     Institute of CPAs, and the American Accounting Association; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, This highly regarded gentleman is an avid golfer who
 2-3     can often be found at Seguin's Starcke Park, walking, not riding,
 2-4     the 18-hole course as he hones his skills; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Elton Bohmann has made a tremendous difference in
 2-6     the lives of many Texans, and it is most appropriate that he be
 2-7     honored for his significant contributions; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-9     Legislature hereby commend Elton Bohmann for his sincere dedication
2-10     to his students and extend to him warmest best wishes for good
2-11     fortune and happiness in the future; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, Than an official copy of this resolution be
2-13     prepared for Mr. Bohmann as an expression of highest regard by the
2-14     Texas House of Representatives.
