R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Epitacia Yanez Day was recently observed in the
 1-2     community of Donna to honor this beloved local citizen on the
 1-3     momentous occasion of her 100th birthday; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born on May 10, 1901, in Monclova, Coahuila, Nuevo
 1-5     Leon, Mexico, Mrs. Yanez moved with her family to Donna in 1918, an
 1-6     area that at the time had no streets, no potable water, and no
 1-7     houses; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, She married Mariano Yanez when she was 18 years old,
 1-9     and the couple enjoyed a warm and fulfilling relationship until his
1-10     passing; in addition to taking care of her children and her
1-11     responsibilities as a homemaker, Mrs. Yanez joined her husband in
1-12     raising poultry and cattle and making cheese to sell, and she was
1-13     also one of the early developers of the city of Donna; and
1-14           WHEREAS, The mother of 13 children, Mrs. Yanez today enjoys
1-15     the love and affection of 38 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren,
1-16     and 19 great-great-grandchildren; and
1-17           WHEREAS, The birthday of Mrs. Yanez provides an opportune
1-18     time for her friends and relatives to share with her a small bit of
1-19     the joy she has imparted to so many people throughout the years;
1-20     now, therefore, be it
1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-22     Legislature hereby congratulate Epitacia Yanez on the momentous
1-23     occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her best wishes for
1-24     continued happiness; and, be it further
 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-2     prepared for Mrs. Yanez as an expression of high regard by the
 2-3     Texas House of Representatives.
