                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, During his year as the 2000-2001 National FFA
 1-2     President, Trent McKnight of Throckmorton has demonstrated
 1-3     tremendous dedication and natural leadership ability, and his
 1-4     exceptional tenure is most worthy of special recognition; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, A national youth organization with more than 450,000
 1-6     student members, the FFA helps to prepare young men and women for
 1-7     careers in the science, business, and technology of agriculture and
 1-8     includes 7,226 local chapters throughout the United States, Puerto
 1-9     Rico, and the Virgin Islands; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Mr. McKnight is a 21-year-old agricultural economics
1-11     student at Oklahoma State University, where he is active in the Phi
1-12     Gamma Delta fraternity, student government, Agricultural
1-13     Ambassadors, and the Student Alumni Board; he has taken the past
1-14     year off from his studies to lead the FFA, but following graduation
1-15     intends to pursue a career in ranching and rural banking; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Over the course of his presidency, Mr. McKnight has
1-17     truly excelled as a leader and teacher, traveling more than 100,000
1-18     miles across the United States on behalf of this fine organization;
1-19     having met with members on the local, state, and national levels,
1-20     he has represented the FFA with integrity and competency, and he
1-21     has garnered the respect of agriculture enthusiasts around the
1-22     country; and
1-23           WHEREAS, This esteemed young man was elected as president
1-24     after serving as the Texas FFA Association vice president, earning
 2-1     the highest level of accomplishment in the FFA, the American FFA
 2-2     degree, and receiving grand champion lamb honors at both the
 2-3     Houston and San Antonio livestock shows and rodeos; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, The son of Ross and Billie McKnight, this notable
 2-5     Texan has carried on the tradition of excellence for the officers
 2-6     of the FFA, and it is a privilege to honor him for his many
 2-7     achievements; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-9     Legislature hereby commend Trent McKnight on an outstanding year as
2-10     president of the National FFA Organization and extend to him
2-11     sincere best wishes for continued success in all his future
2-12     endeavors; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for Mr. McKnight as an expression of high regard by the
2-15     Texas House of Representatives.
