R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, This May, Beatrice Smith Parker of Chevy Chase,
 1-2     Maryland, experienced the legislative workings of the State of
 1-3     Texas first hand, and her dedication to a further understanding of
 1-4     state government is most admirable; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, During her visit to the State Capitol, Ms. Parker
 1-6     witnessed history in the making while she watched our state's
 1-7     leaders debate on the house and senate floors; in addition, she was
 1-8     given the opportunity to meet with Governor Rick Perry, with whom
 1-9     she posed for a commemorative picture; and
1-10           WHEREAS, The beloved daughter of Jonathan and Heidi Parker,
1-11     this lovely young lady was also invited to participate in a wide
1-12     variety of Capitol activities, including a tour of the Capitol
1-13     Complex; she spent part of her visit as a page for both the house
1-14     and the senate and offered her assistance in the Legislative
1-15     Reference Library and in the Capitol office of State Representative
1-16     Kent Grusendorf; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Ms. Parker has gained a unique insight into the
1-18     democratic system on which this country was founded, and she will
1-19     assuredly treasure her memories of this day for many years to come;
1-20     now, therefore, be it
1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-22     Legislature hereby applaud Beatrice Smith Parker for her interest
1-23     in the political process and extend to her sincere best wishes for
1-24     success in all of her future endeavors; and, be it further
 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-2     prepared for Ms. Parker as an expression of high regard from the
 2-3     Texas House of Representatives.
