By Davis of Harris H.R. No. 1190 77R17203 MDM-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for a 1-2 celebration, and on May 19, 2001, Bertie and Arthur E. Lynch, Sr., 1-3 of Seabrook observed this significant milestone in their life 1-4 together; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Lynch and the former Bertie Robie Ashley were 1-6 married on May 19, 1951, at the Fort Sam Houston Chapel in San 1-7 Antonio; residents of the Seabrook community since 1968, the couple 1-8 enjoy a loving and supportive relationship and take great pride in 1-9 their family, which includes three children, Arthur E. Lynch, Jr., 1-10 Virginia A. Lynch-Bird, and Sharlene L. Lynch-Bingham; and five 1-11 beloved grandchildren, Jessica A. Lynch, Elizabeth A. Bird, Ashley 1-12 G. Bingham, Richard B. Bingham, and Shelbi L. V. Bingham; and 1-13 WHEREAS, During the Korean War, Mr. Lynch served as a signal 1-14 officer with the 8th Army Division; after his military discharge, 1-15 he had a notable 28-year career with NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space 1-16 Center; and 1-17 WHEREAS, A proud descendant of Texas Ranger Captain Daniel 1-18 Roberts, Mrs. Lynch remembers hot childhood summers spent in the 1-19 shade of massive mesquite trees in Dale, listening to stories of 1-20 Texas Rangers' exploits; she was also educated about oil rigs by 1-21 helping her father work on the platforms, and she was taught the 1-22 art of Southern cooking by her mother; and 1-23 WHEREAS, This devoted couple have shared the trials and 1-24 triumphs of 50 years together; their commitment to each other is an 2-1 inspiration to their loved ones, and it is indeed appropriate that 2-2 they be honored at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Bertie Lynch and Arthur E. Lynch, 2-5 Sr., on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest 2-6 best wishes on this memorable occasion; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Lynch as an expression of high regard by 2-9 the Texas House of Representatives.
