R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride
 1-2     in honoring the Mount Cristo Rey Illumination Committee of El Paso
 1-3     for their diligent service in behalf of their community; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, In an effort to ensure the safety of visitors to the
 1-5     city's beloved Mount Cristo Rey, these dedicated Texans have
 1-6     committed themselves to providing a permanent lighting system for
 1-7     the area landmark; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, The proposed project would include lighting the
 1-9     Mount Cristo Rey statue, the hiking trails, and the parking lot, as
1-10     well as installing a security system with surveillance cameras,
1-11     motion detectors, and video and audio alarm enunciators; in
1-12     addition, the committee is coordinating security measures with the
1-13     Sunland Park police, Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department, United
1-14     States Border Patrol, El Paso police, and Juarez police; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Working to preserve one of El Paso's most enduring
1-16     treasures for the enjoyment of future generations is truly an
1-17     admirable endeavor, and one worthy of our highest praise; now,
1-18     therefore, be it
1-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-20     Legislature hereby commend the members of the Mount Cristo Rey
1-21     Illumination Committee and extend to them sincere best wishes on
1-22     the success of their campaign; and, be it further
1-23           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
1-24     prepared for the committee as an expression of high regard by the
 2-1     Texas House of Representatives.
