                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The congregants of Cornerstone Baptist Church of
 1-2     Christ in Dallas take great pride in their pastor, the Reverend
 1-3     Dr. Robert H. Wilson, Sr., for he has shared his wisdom and
 1-4     guidance with them as the founder and head of their church for the
 1-5     past 20 years; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, A graduate of Benedict College and Benedict School
 1-7     of Theology in South Carolina, Dr. Wilson holds honorary degrees
 1-8     from Virginia Seminary College, Benedict School of Theology, and
 1-9     Edward Waters College in Florida; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Dr. Wilson's tenure in the clergy spans more than a
1-11     half-century and includes serving as the pastor of churches in
1-12     South Carolina and Florida and as chaplain for the South Carolina
1-13     Mental Health Department; moreover, he has shared his leadership as
1-14     director of the National Baptist Congress of Christian Workers of
1-15     the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., served as chief
1-16     executive officer of the convention's Foreign Missions Board, and
1-17     as president of the Dallas Baptist Ministers Conference; and
1-18           WHEREAS, In 1976, this compassionate gentleman established
1-19     the Bethlehem Foundation, a social service organization that
1-20     assists Dallas-area individuals and families in need with securing
1-21     food, shelter, and medical services, and gives special attention to
1-22     young people in the criminal justice system; and
1-23           WHEREAS, Since founding Cornerstone Baptist Church of Christ
1-24     in May 1981, he has drawn on his education and wealth of experience
 2-1     to support and inspire the members of his congregation and to
 2-2     contribute to the church's steady and positive growth; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, Under his able direction, the church has developed
 2-4     such exciting initiatives as the Cornerstone Child Development
 2-5     Center, the Orientation Ministry, the Cornerstone Tape Ministry,
 2-6     the Annual Model Mission, the Discipleship Training Institute, the
 2-7     Soul Winning Action Team, and more; and
 2-8           WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Wilson enjoys the love and
 2-9     support of his devoted wife, Elise, their two children, Roberta
2-10     Wilson-Nicholson and the Reverend Robert H. Wilson, Jr., as well as
2-11     three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and
2-12           WHEREAS, A true friend to the Dallas community and beyond,
2-13     Dr. Wilson is always there to promote faith, hope, and
2-14     understanding, helping others to surely navigate that daily miracle
2-15     we call life; now, therefore, be it
2-16           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-17     Legislature hereby commend Dr. Robert H. Wilson, Sr., on the
2-18     occasion of his 20th pastoral anniversary at Cornerstone Baptist
2-19     Church of Christ and extend to him sincere best wishes for
2-20     continued fulfillment; and, be it further
2-21           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-22     prepared for Dr. Wilson as an expression of high regard by the
2-23     Texas House of Representatives.
