R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Timothy Jerome Walker, Jr., son of proud parents
 1-2     Timothy and Margaret Walker, of Dallas, has been selected to attend
 1-3     the Presidential Classroom's Science, Technology and Public Policy
 1-4     Program in Washington, D.C.; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, From June 16 to 23, 2001, Mr. Walker will be joining
 1-6     hundreds of students from across the country and abroad to
 1-7     participate in seminars presented by leaders of each government
 1-8     branch as well as the military, media, and lobbying organizations;
 1-9     in addition, he will join small-group workshops that will focus on
1-10     issues involving the government and health, science, and the
1-11     Internet; and
1-12           WHEREAS, President of his senior class at David W. Carter
1-13     High School, Mr. Walker is an "A" Honor Roll student who has been
1-14     named to the National Honor Society, and he is a member of Carter
1-15     High School's varsity football and track teams; this fine young man
1-16     looks forward to attending the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and
1-17     majoring in business management and computer graphic design; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Mr. Walker is a recipient of the 2001 Legislative
1-19     Black Caucus Youth Award; he volunteers for many worthwhile causes
1-20     such as Toys for Tots, March of Dimes, and the Halloween Carnival,
1-21     in addition to helping feed the homeless and paint houses for the
1-22     elderly; and
1-23           WHEREAS, Mr. Walker is an exceptional Texan whose academic
1-24     distinction, leadership skills, and social conscience are leading
 2-1     him to a very bright and rewarding future; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby congratulate Timothy Jerome Walker, Jr., on his
 2-4     selection as a participant in the Presidential Classroom Program
 2-5     and extend to him sincere best wishes for a rich and exciting
 2-6     experience in our nation's capital; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for Mr. Walker as an expression of high regard by the
 2-9     Texas House of Representatives.
