                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Howard Rosser of Longview has been a successful
 1-2     advocate for tourism in East Texas for more than four decades, and
 1-3     his contributions to the area truly warrant legislative
 1-4     recognition; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, A native East Texan, Mr. Rosser has devoted many
 1-6     years to promoting the 74-county region that stretches from the Red
 1-7     River to the Gulf of Mexico as executive director of the
 1-8     Longview-based East Texas Tourism Association, which has grown into
 1-9     the nation's largest tourism association hosted by a chamber of
1-10     commerce; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Originally founded in 1963 as a division of the
1-12     former East Texas Chamber of Commerce, the association became a
1-13     separate entity in 1987; its trademark East Texas Vacation Guide is
1-14     now in its 38th year of publication, and it produces other works
1-15     such as the East Texas Fun Map and East Texas Group Tour Manual;
1-16     and
1-17           WHEREAS, Mr. Rosser is also founder and president of Howard
1-18     W. Rosser Communications, Inc., in which he is assisted by his
1-19     wife, Kathy, who is secretary-treasurer, and daughter, Leslie, who
1-20     is director of sales; this successful enterprise promotes more than
1-21     100 cities and places in East Texas and the surrounding area; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Mr. Rosser is a great benefactor to the East Texas
1-23     region, and the Lone Star State is grateful for his efforts in
1-24     highlighting the many beautiful and interesting attractions in that
 2-1     special part of the state; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby commend Howard Rosser and extend to him sincere
 2-4     best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 2-5           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-6     prepared for Mr. Rosser as an expression of high regard by the
 2-7     Texas House of Representatives.
