R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Distinguished civic leader and valued member of the
 1-2     community Alfred Charles "A. C." Johnson of Waco passed away on May
 1-3     9, 2001, at the age of 64; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born December 6, 1936, Mr. Johnson graduated from
 1-5     Texas A&M University, where he was a football letterman, before
 1-6     embarking on a lifelong career of public service; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, He was the former director of Central Texas Council
 1-8     of Governments in Belton and the first vice chairman for the
 1-9     National Association of Regional Councils' Executive Directors
1-10     Committee; he also served as executive director of the 12-county
1-11     Central Texas Economic Development District; and
1-12           WHEREAS, As executive director of the Central Texas Council
1-13     of Governments, he was involved in various projects, including
1-14     industrial park development, strategies to stem sudden and severe
1-15     economic dislocation, Interstate Highway 35 Central Texas corridor
1-16     development studies, historic renovations, and administration of
1-17     economic development programs; and
1-18           WHEREAS, During his career, Mr. Johnson worked in many areas
1-19     of public service, ranging from Marlin city manager to being a
1-20     founding member and secretary of the Central Texas Resource
1-21     Conservation and Development Board; moreover, from 1982-1987, he
1-22     contributed his time and efforts to the Divan of the Karem Shrine
1-23     Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. and gave generously of himself to the Shriners'
1-24     Children's Hospitals and Burn Institutes; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, A devoted husband and loving father who was an
 2-2     enormous benefactor to his community and the entire State of Texas,
 2-3     Mr. Johnson will long live in the hearts of the many people whose
 2-4     lives he so deeply touched; now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-6     Legislature pay tribute to the life of Alfred Charles Johnson and
 2-7     extend sincere sympathies to the members of his family:  to his
 2-8     wife, Jacquelyn; to his daughter, Kimberly Sue Horn, and her
 2-9     husband, Russell; to his daughter, Karoljeanne "Jeanne" Schroeder,
2-10     and her husband, Bill; to his son, Ryan Lyn Johnson, and his wife,
2-11     Robin; to his stepsons, Robert H. Jones, and his wife, Dianne, and
2-12     Russell Jones; to his mother, Mildred Haley, and father, Selmer
2-13     Johnson; to his brothers, Bob Johnson, and his wife, Barbara, and
2-14     Jerry Johnson; and to his 14 grandchildren, other relatives, and
2-15     countless friends; and, be it further
2-16           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-17     prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2-18     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alfred
2-19     Charles "A. C." Johnson.
