R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On May 26, 2001, Cleo Ashley of Houston is
 1-2     celebrating her 90th birthday in the company of family and friends,
 1-3     and this notable event is indeed worthy of special recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, The former Cleo Johnson was born on May 20, 1911, in
 1-5     Willis, Texas, and attended Phillis Wheatley Senior High School; a
 1-6     woman of strong faith, she has been an active member of the Church
 1-7     of Christ on Stonewall Street at Waco since it first opened its
 1-8     doors more than 70 years ago; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, For more than five decades, she was married to
1-10     Lorane Arthur Ashley, Sr., until his passing, and their loving
1-11     union was blessed with a daughter, Joan, and four sons, Charles,
1-12     Donald, Michael, and Lorane Ashley, Jr.; today, Mrs. Ashley also
1-13     takes great pleasure in spending time with her nine grandchildren
1-14     and numerous great-grandchildren; and
1-15           WHEREAS, The birthday of this lovely lady provides a fitting
1-16     opportunity for her friends and relatives to share with her a small
1-17     bit of the joy she has generously imparted to all those who have
1-18     had the pleasure of knowing her through the years; now, therefore,
1-19     be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-21     Legislature hereby congratulate Cleo Ashley on the significant
1-22     occasion of her 90th birthday and extend to her best wishes for a
1-23     memorable celebration; and, be it further
1-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-1     prepared for Mrs. Ashley as an expression of high regard by the
 2-2     Texas House of Representatives.
