By Wise H.R. No. 1268 77R17658 MW-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Edinia E. Espinoza has been selected to participate 1-2 in the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed 1-3 Officials (NALEO) Shell Legislative Internship Program during the 1-4 summer of 2001; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Ms. Espinoza is expecting to graduate from Texas 1-6 Lutheran University in December 2001 with a bachelor's degree in 1-7 political science with an emphasis on public policy; this esteemed 1-8 student leader has been president of the Center for Women's Studies 1-9 and a member of the Delta Alpha Delta Sorority, where she is a 1-10 two-term co-rush chair and the newly elected secretary for fall 1-11 2001; a valued legislative assistant in the office of 1-12 Representative Miguel Wise, she has served diligently and 1-13 tirelessly during the regular session of the 77th Legislature, 1-14 gaining extensive knowledge of the political process; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The NALEO-Shell Legislative Internship Program 1-16 sponsors an elite selection of 14 individuals nationwide who will 1-17 attend the 18th Annual Conference in San Jose, California, where 1-18 Ms. Espinoza will meet and network with Latinos who are involved in 1-19 leadership positions at all levels; furthermore, she will 1-20 experience one week in Washington, D.C., meeting with congressional 1-21 elected officials, federal officials, and staff and then 1-22 participate in an internship with an elected official from Texas; 1-23 and 1-24 WHEREAS, For Ms. Espinoza to be chosen for such an esteemed 2-1 and worthwhile opportunity is a reflection of her hard work, 2-2 talents, and bright future; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Edinia E. Espinoza on her selection 2-5 to participate in the NALEO-Shell Legislative Internship Program 2-6 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, 2-7 be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Ms. Espinoza as an expression of high regard by the 2-10 Texas House of Representatives.
