R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On May 24, 2001, Jack and Dorothy Stevens of Uvalde
 1-2     celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and this momentous
 1-3     occasion is most deserving of special recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Joined in marriage on May 24, 1951, in Seguin,
 1-5     Texas, Mr. Stevens and the former Dorothy Sellers enjoy a warm and
 1-6     fulfilling relationship that is an inspiration to all who know
 1-7     them; they take great pride in their family, which includes two
 1-8     sons, Randy and David, and five beloved grandchildren; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Stevens are respected members of the
1-10     Uvalde community, where they have made their home since 1959; now
1-11     enjoying a well-deserved retirement, Mrs. Stevens is retired from a
1-12     career as an elementary school teacher, while Mr. Stevens is
1-13     retired from employment with the United States Department of
1-14     Agriculture Soil Conservation Society; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Together, this devoted couple have shared the trials
1-16     and triumphs of five decades, and it is indeed appropriate that
1-17     they be honored at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-18           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-19     Legislature hereby congratulate Jack and Dorothy Stevens on the
1-20     joyous occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to
1-21     them best wishes for future happiness; and, be it further
1-22       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared
1-23     for Mr. and Mrs. Stevens as an expression of high regard by the
1-24     Texas House of Representatives.
