R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas City refinery of Marathon Oil Company has 1-2 won a 2000 President's Award for Health, Environment, and Safety; 1-3 and 1-4 WHEREAS, Sponsored by Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC (MAP), 1-5 the award recognizes refineries that have demonstrated an 1-6 outstanding commitment to proactive initiatives that will help 1-7 companies meet the myriad challenges and opportunities of the 1-8 future; and 1-9 WHEREAS, In earning this prestigious award, the Texas City 1-10 refinery has excelled in a number of areas and was singled out for 1-11 its emergency preparedness and responsible care initiatives, as 1-12 well as its HES partnership programs; the refinery was also 1-13 accorded the NPRA Safety Achievement Award during 2000; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Employees at the Texas City refinery presented a 1-15 $5,000 donation to the Texas City Independent School District 1-16 Foundation and the LaMarque Independent School District to go 1-17 toward programs focusing on health, environmental, and safety 1-18 issues; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Through its valuable contributions and innovative 1-20 leadership, the Texas City refinery is taking meaningful steps to 1-21 meet the diverse needs of its customers while continuing to address 1-22 important health, safety, and environmental concerns; now, 1-23 therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby congratulate the Texas City refinery of Marathon 2-2 Oil Company for winning a 2000 President's Award; and, be it 2-3 further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for the Texas City refinery as an expression of high 2-6 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
