R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, May 25, 2001, marks the 53rd birthday of Ken 1-2 Dittlinger, doorkeeper of the Texas House of Representatives; and 1-3 WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio and an alumnus of Sul Ross 1-4 State University, this noteworthy Texan served in the United States 1-5 Navy for six years before embarking on a career with the Department 1-6 of Public Safety in 1970 as a state trooper; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Mr. Dittlinger was selected to join the Governor's 1-8 Protective Detail in 1980, and after nine years of exemplary 1-9 service in that capacity, he was promoted to sergeant investigator 1-10 of the Special Crimes Services section; this esteemed public 1-11 servant dedicated the next nine years of his professional career to 1-12 criminal investigative work before retiring from the department in 1-13 1998; and 1-14 WHEREAS, On January 6, 1999, Mr. Dittlinger embarked on the 1-15 newest chapter in his career when he became a security officer for 1-16 the Texas House of Representatives; since that time he has taken on 1-17 the duties of house doorkeeper and has helped to maintain order and 1-18 strictly enforce the rules of the house throughout the legislative 1-19 session; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Blessed with a loving family, he and his wife, 1-21 Susie, take great pride in their son, Kenneth Shane Dittlinger, 1-22 daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Bryan McDaniel, 1-23 granddaughter, Lindsey McDaniel, and new grandson, Dylan McDaniel; 1-24 an active outdoorsman, he is an avid golfer and sportsman, whose 2-1 hobbies include walking, fishing, hunting, and keeping his 2-2 Chevrolet pickup truck in top shape; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Ken Dittlinger has long served the residents of 2-4 Texas, and it is most fitting that he be honored at this time; now, 2-5 therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby congratulate Ken Dittlinger on his 53rd birthday 2-8 and commend him for his contributions to the work of this chamber.
