By Glaze H.R. No. 1277 77R17681 MJS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of L. W. "Bob" Conradt of Terrell on 1-2 November 8, 2000, at the age of 79, brought a profound loss to the 1-3 family and many friends of this well-respected gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born on March 9, 1921, in Long Cove, Texas, 1-5 Dr. Conradt studied at Tarleton State University, The University of 1-6 Texas, and Baylor College of Medicine, and graduated in the first 1-7 class of The University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine in 1-8 1944; while in medical school, he joined the U.S. Army and served 1-9 as a general medical officer at Fort Bliss in El Paso; and 1-10 WHEREAS, After completing his medical training and military 1-11 service in 1947, Dr. Conradt moved to Terrell with his beloved 1-12 wife, Montie, and infant daughter, Cathy, and practiced medicine 1-13 until 1973 when he started a new career as vice president and 1-14 medical director of Blue Cross-Blue Shield; he retired from Blue 1-15 Cross-Blue Shield in 1986, but continued working for the company as 1-16 a part-time consultant until 1993; and 1-17 WHEREAS, He also contributed greatly outside of the medical 1-18 spectrum; a former president of the Terrell ISD School Board, 1-19 Dr. Conradt helped the school district to grow and prosper by 1-20 overseeing important changes, such as facilities expansion and the 1-21 desegregation of the Terrell ISD; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Dr. Conradt donated his time and considerable 1-23 talents in other ways as well; he belonged to several noteworthy 1-24 organizations, including the Kaufman County Medical Society, Texas 2-1 Medical Association, Boy Scouts of America, and the Episcopal 2-2 Church of the Good Shepherd; and 2-3 WHEREAS, His many good works and deeds earned him the Terrell 2-4 Rotary Club's Citizen of the Year award in 1965, as well as a 2-5 number of other significant honors and accolades; moreover, 2-6 Dr. Conradt served as president of the Society of Life Insurance 2-7 Medical Directors and as an advisory trustee to the Episcopal 2-8 Church and the Diocese of Dallas; and 2-9 WHEREAS, This estimable gentleman earned a special place in 2-10 the hearts of countless people; although Dr. Conradt will be deeply 2-11 missed, his bright spirit will continue to live on in the memories 2-12 of all those whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it 2-13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-14 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Bob Conradt and 2-15 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his son, 2-16 Bill Conradt; to his daughter, Trish Conradt; to his grandchildren, 2-17 Tracy and Rob Morgan; to his former son-in-law, Joe Morgan; and to 2-18 his numerous other relatives and friends; and, be it further 2-19 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-20 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-21 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in the memory 2-22 of Bob Conradt.
