R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On May 18, 2001, Angela Veronica Colmenero graduated 1-2 from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in government, 1-3 and this significant event truly merits special commendation; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Graduating with an outstanding cumulative grade 1-5 point average of 3.809, Ms. Colmenero was an honors and dean's list 1-6 student, was nominated to the Junior Fellows Program in the UT 1-7 government department, and was a participant in the Governor's 1-8 Fellowship Program; and 1-9 WHEREAS, She was also a scholastic standout during her years 1-10 at James Bowie High School in Austin, as is evidenced by her 1-11 membership in the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society; 1-12 in addition, she served her fellow students as a member and vice 1-13 president of the student council and as junior class vice president 1-14 of service affairs; and 1-15 WHEREAS, A gifted dancer, she distinguished herself as an 1-16 officer in the national champion Silver Stars drill team, was a 1-17 Miss USA Super-Dancer, and qualified as a solo finalist at the 1-18 national competition in San Antonio; her other extracurricular 1-19 activities included serving as Bowie High School's ambassador to 1-20 the Hugh O'Brian Youth Foundation Forum and as a Bowie peer 1-21 assistance and leadership student mentor; and 1-22 WHEREAS, In spite of the time required by her academic work 1-23 at The University of Texas at Austin, this highly motivated young 1-24 woman also devoted her considerable talents to her job with the 2-1 Mexican American Legislative Caucus; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Ms. Colmenero has 2-3 been an inspiration to her fellow students, both in and out of the 2-4 classroom, and it is indeed appropriate that she receive special 2-5 legislative recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby congratulate Angela Veronica Colmenero on her 2-8 graduation from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as on 2-9 her many other achievements, and extend to her sincere best wishes 2-10 for continued success and happiness; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for Ms. Colmenero as an expression of high regard by the 2-13 Texas House of Representatives.
