R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Ramon Quintero has long been a dedicated civic 1-2 leader, and his significant efforts in behalf of his San Antonio 1-3 community are most deserving of special legislative recognition; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Quintero was born in Waco and 1-6 served five years in the United States Army during World War II; he 1-7 has been a resident of San Antonio for the last 56 years, having 1-8 moved to the area with his wife in 1945; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Twelve years ago, he established the Sunny Slope 1-10 Neighborhood Association, with the primary goal of getting 1-11 much-needed drainage, streets, and sidewalks built in the area; he 1-12 has served as president and is now on the board of directors; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Currently also a member of the board of directors 1-14 for the Highland Park Neighborhood Association, Mr. Quintero has 1-15 been a member of the organization for the last 15 years, and for 1-16 the last 7 years has been in charge of the community 1-17 Adopt-a-Dumpster Program; in addition, he is a recipient of the 1-18 Keep San Antonio Beautiful Association's Award for Excellent 1-19 Service to the Environment; and 1-20 WHEREAS, A man with incredible energy, Mr. Quintero has 1-21 earned the lasting respect and gratitude of countless Bexar County 1-22 residents for his love of his neighborhood and his exemplary 1-23 volunteer spirit; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby commend Ramon Quintero for his commitment to the 2-2 community and extend to him sincere best wishes for success in all 2-3 of his future initiatives; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for Mr. Quintero as an expression of high regard by the 2-6 Texas House of Representatives.
