R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the State
 1-2     of Texas, 77th Legislature, Regular Session, 2001, That House Rule
 1-3     13, Section 9(a), be suspended in part as provided by House Rule
 1-4     13, Section 9(f), to enable the conference committee appointed to
 1-5     resolve the differences on Senate Bill No. 1119, relating to the
 1-6     regulation of bail bond sureties and providing a penalty, to
 1-7     consider and take action on the following specific matters:
 1-8           House Rule 13, Section 9(a)(1), is suspended to permit the
 1-9     committee to amend proposed Section 1704.163(a), Occupations Code,
1-10     to change text not in disagreement to read as follows:
1-11           (a)  Except as provided by this section [Subsection (c)], a
1-12     person not licensed under this chapter may execute a bail bond or
1-13     act as a surety for another person in any county in this state if
1-14     the person:
1-15                 (1)  is licensed to practice law in this state; and
1-16                 (2)  represents the other person in the [a] criminal
1-17     case for which the bond was given.
1-18           Explanation:  The change is necessary to clarify how
1-19     attorneys are exempted from Chapter 1704, Occupations Code.
