R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The year 2001 marks the 25th anniversary of The
 1-2     Northeast News, and this significant event provides a fitting
 1-3     opportunity to honor its owners, Vic and Donna Mauldin; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Through their editorials on issues affecting
 1-5     residents and articles on a wide range of topics relating to their
 1-6     community, Mr. and Mrs. Mauldin have served as an important voice
 1-7     for the area's citizens; the pages of their paper have provided
 1-8     numerous organizations space for making announcements and conveying
 1-9     information of interest to the public; and
1-10           WHEREAS, The Mauldins have made significant contributions to
1-11     northeastern Harris County in myriad ways, such as supporting the
1-12     Aldine College Endowment Scholarship Foundation and the Aldine ISD
1-13     P-DAP, assisting with the opening of the Sheriff's Storefront at
1-14     Aldine Mail Route, and playing an integral role in the
1-15     establishment of the Northeast Chamber of Commerce; and
1-16           WHEREAS, They have been active members of the Rotary and
1-17     Optimist clubs and spearheaded many valuable efforts to help
1-18     improve their community; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Native Texans, Mr. and Mrs. Mauldin have proven
1-20     themselves to be civic leaders whose many good works and deeds have
1-21     had a positive impact on countless lives; they have earned the
1-22     respect of numerous people in the Houston area, and as The
1-23     Northeast News celebrates a notable milestone, it is most
1-24     appropriate to pay tribute to them; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby commend Vic and Donna Mauldin for their
 2-3     outstanding community service and extend to them sincere best
 2-4     wishes for success and happiness in their future endeavors; and, be
 2-5     it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Mauldin as an expression of high regard
 2-8     by the Texas House of Representatives.
