No. 1292 77R17269 MDM-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Kristy Renee Kerr of Kilgore has deservedly been 1-2 named the recipient of a $2,500 Area Go Texan scholarship from the 1-3 2001 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The daughter of Jim and Marie Kerr, she is a senior 1-5 at Kilgore High School and plans to major in agricultural business 1-6 at Kilgore College; her scholarship was one of only 60 awarded 1-7 statewide and is based on proceeds from county Go Texan 1-8 participation and performance at this year's livestock show and 1-9 rodeo; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Ms. Kerr's involvement in her school and community 1-11 is extensive; she has participated in UIL Marching Band Competition 1-12 in a clarinet ensemble, as well as been involved with Kilgore Youth 1-13 Stand Superior Eliminating Drugs and the Angel Tree; and 1-14 WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Scholars Program, she made the 1-15 USAA National Honor Roll and is listed in Who's Who Among American 1-16 High School Students; her many accolades include the Bobwhite 1-17 Brigade Achievement Award, the 4-H Gold Star and Silver Star, and 1-18 the I Dare You Award; and 1-19 WHEREAS, In contemplating her future plans, Ms. Kerr has 1-20 already begun to gain experience in her chosen field through her 1-21 4-H and FFA activities, having served as 4-H ambassador, president, 1-22 council vice president, and member of the 4-H State Congress, as 1-23 well as FFA chapter president, Star Chapter Farmer, Top Ten Member, 1-24 and a voting delegate to area and state conventions; and 2-1 WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has demonstrated the 2-2 initiative, dedication, and foresight of a leader, and with her 2-3 many achievements she has served as a positive role model for her 2-4 peers at Kilgore High School; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby congratulate Kristy Renee Kerr on her receipt of 2-7 an Area Go Texan scholarship from the 2001 Houston Livestock Show 2-8 and Rodeo and extend to her warmest best wishes for continued 2-9 success; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for Ms. Kerr as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-12 House of Representatives.
