R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The La Joya High School softball and baseball teams 1-2 achieved outstanding success during the 2000-2001 campaign, and 1-3 their efforts truly merit special recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, District champions of 31-5A for the second time in 1-5 three years, the baseball team completed the season with a record 1-6 of 21 wins, 10 defeats, and 1 tie; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The Lady Coyote softball squad also reached the 20 1-8 game victory plateau, against 12 losses; making a deep run into the 1-9 postseason playoffs, the team won bi-district and area titles and 1-10 was a regional quarterfinalist for the first time in the program's 1-11 history; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Baseball coach Victor Garza and softball coach 1-13 Carlos Rodriguez inspired their young charges to compete at the 1-14 highest level, and they both enjoyed the full support of Principal 1-15 Gus Zapata; and 1-16 WHEREAS, These two teams have represented La Joya High School 1-17 in exemplary fashion; their accomplishments are a source of great 1-18 pride to the students and faculty of the school, and it is indeed 1-19 appropriate that they be honored at this time; now, therefore, be 1-20 it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby congratulate the La Joya High School softball 1-23 and baseball teams on their exceptional 2000-2001 season and extend 1-24 to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it 2-1 further 2-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-3 prepared for prominent display at La Joya High School as an 2-4 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
