R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to 1-2 recognize Alene Riley for her exemplary work as a legislative 1-3 intern with Representative Glenn Lewis; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Alene Riley is a member of a select group of young 1-5 men and women who have been chosen to participate in the Texas 1-6 Legislative Internship Program (TLIP) since its inception in 1-7 December 1990; through this unique program, students from Texas 1-8 colleges and universities have the opportunity to witness their 1-9 state government functioning at its dynamic best as they serve as 1-10 interns for members of the legislature and at certain state 1-11 agencies; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mickey Leland Center on World 1-13 Hunger and Peace at Texas Southern University, the intern program 1-14 fosters academic study and research and offers supervised practical 1-15 training; Senator Rodney Ellis serves as program advisor, and his 1-16 office staff helps to direct on-site activities; and 1-17 WHEREAS, This esteemed young woman has benefited as a 1-18 participant in TLIP, for she has enhanced her knowledge of the 1-19 legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star 1-20 State, while also gaining valuable work experience in a political 1-21 environment; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Alene Riley has demonstrated exceptional commitment 1-23 and integrity during her tenure in the program, and she is indeed 1-24 deserving of special legislative recognition for her contributions 2-1 to the state; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby commend Alene Riley for her service as a 2-4 legislative intern with Representative Glenn Lewis and extend to 2-5 her best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of her 2-6 future endeavors; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Alene Riley as an expression of high regard by the 2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
