R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, This year marks the 15th anniversary of the
 1-2     Community Oriented Primary Care Association, Inc. (COPRIMA), of
 1-3     Brownsville, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to
 1-4     reflect on the history of this invaluable organization; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, In the mid-1980s, residents of Cameron County joined
 1-6     with members of the pediatrics department at The University of
 1-7     Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in developing a grant proposal
 1-8     for the Texas Department of Health that would help fill a
 1-9     tremendous void in available health care services in the county;
1-10     the successful proposal resulted in the creation of COPRIMA which
1-11     has helped to change the state of health care for a large,
1-12     previously underserved population; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Serving Cameron Park, Olmito, Salida del Sol, Villa
1-14     Pancho, and the surrounding areas, COPRIMA has provided medical
1-15     attention to more than 13,000 individuals since its inception; in
1-16     addition, its dedicated staff has worked diligently to identify
1-17     common health problems suffered in these communities and to offer
1-18     preventative care; and
1-19           WHEREAS, In providing comprehensive health services to many
1-20     individuals who previously had little or no access to such care,
1-21     COPRIMA has also played a vital role in building stronger
1-22     communities, and it is a privilege to join the administrators,
1-23     staff, and clients of this fine organization in celebrating its
1-24     tremendous contributions over the years; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with Community
 2-3     Oriented Primary Care Association, Inc., on its 15th anniversary
 2-4     and extend to them sincere best wishes for success in the years to
 2-5     come; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for COPRIMA as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 2-8     House of Representatives.
